Bada village in Mathura is the birthplace of Shri Hit Harivansh Mahaprabhu, the founder of the Radha Vallabh Sampradaya. This place is, therefore, a pilgrimage site for the Vaishnavas following the Radha Vallabh tradition. Shri Hit Harivansh Mahaprabhu is considered an incarnation of Radharani’s flute (Vamshi) and a Sakhi devoted to the service of Her Nikunja (divine groves). He appeared on Earth under the command of Shri Radharani to spread the nectar of Nikunja-Rasa (divine love).
During the Braj Chaurasi Kos Parikrama (the 84 Kos circumambulation) with the King of Delhi, Shri Vyas Mishra came across a high mound and the Krishna Sarovar in Baad village, where he decided to pause the journey. It was here, in the royal army camp, that his pregnant wife Tara gave birth to Shri Hita Harivansh Mahaprabhu on a Monday morning, the 11th day (Mohini-Ekadashi) of Vaishakh (April-May) in 1502 AD. This event significantly increased the importance of Bada village, making it a sacred place of devotion.
Later, Shri Vanachandra Ji, the eldest son of Shri Hit Harivansh Mahaprabhu, built a temple here and established the service of Shri Radha’s name. Nearby lies Krishna Sarovar, where Lord Krishna is believed to have rested while grazing cows. On Vaishakh Shukla Ekadashi, Vaishnav devotees from far and wide gather here for darshan, seeking blessings at this sacred place.
