Shrinathji's temple is located in Punchari, Govardhan. The shape of Govardhan mountain is similar to that of a peacock and Punchari is considered the tail of Govardhan.
Shrinathji appeared in front of Mahaprabhu Shri Vallabhacharya Ji on Govardhan mountain, and Mahaprabhu started the service of Shrinathji by getting the temple constructed. After about 170 years, due to the invasion of the Mughals, Shrinathji was transferred to Nathdwara, located 50 km from Udaipur. The replica of the same Shrinathji is seated in the Shrinathji temple of Punchari.
Near to it, is the cave of Shri Raghav Pandit, a great saint of the Gaudiya sect, where he had stayed for a long time and worshipped Shri Radha Krishn.
There is a samadhi of Siddha Shri Jagannath Das Baba in the courtyard of the temple.
